Katchkie Farm is a year-round organic farm owned by Great Performances, one of the leading catering companies in New York City. An industry first, Katchkie Farm represents commitment to celebrating local flavors while supporting sustainable agriculture, and good earth practices.

What began as a way to use a bumper crop of “thunder-fertilized” cucumbers from Katchkie’s first harvest has grown into a passionate commitment of Farm Manager Bob Walker and the culinary team at Great Performances. Preservation of the harvest sustains the basic food values and practices of eating local foods when they’re in season and putting enough away to enjoy in the off-season.

Our Story

When we produce our local farm-based products we are committed to honoring basic food values and eating practices.

Finding inspiration in the field and transforming it into deliciously unique products is ground-breaking in both the farming community and the catering world. In 2006, Great Performances’ Founder and CEO, Liz Neumark, bought never-before-farmed land in Columbia County, New York. The Dream: To grow organic produce to serve to clients and guests of the company’s special events and cafes within 24-48 hours of harvest. With Liz’s vision and Bob’s dedication, the Farm’s essential infrastructure was built and Katchkie was grown into a thriving organic farm.

Katchkie Farm quickly became the source and inspiration for a new line of truly artisanal products produced in cooperation with Great Performances.

Organic produce from the Farm is at the heart of each and every product. Other ingredients are also sourced locally, like Samascott Orchard Ida Red apples in the Bob-B-Q Sauce.

All Katchkie Farm Artisanal Products are made in small batches rather than mass-produced on a large scale. The motto is: “When it’s gone, we wait for next year!”

A portion of our profits goes to support the programs of The Sylvia Center: a not-for-profit organization committed to educating children about food and nutrition through hands-on experiences on our farm. The children plant, harvest, and cook as a world of new flavors opens up to them. For more information, visit sylviacenter.org.
